Red Stripe Lager

Red Stripe

Red Stripe Lager

The Red Stripe has its home on the island of Jamaica, where a very special beer is brewed under a hot sun and cheerful sounds. It has been produced in the Desnoes & Geddes brewery since 1938 and is now 51% owned by the large Guinness brewery. Nevertheless, this great lager is still brewed according to the original recipe in Jamaica.

Description

One of the most popular theories as to how Red-Stripe got its name is that the beer was named after the red stripe that runs along the uniform of the Jamaican police. Former employees recall that brewmaster Paul Geddes was stopped one day by a policeman doing a routine check when someone from the brewhouse asked him what name he should give the new beer. He simply looked at the policeman who was inspecting his documents, thought for a moment and then replied: 'Let's call it RED STRIPE Beer.'
