Chateauneuf-du-Pape Reserve 2003

Domaine de la Vieille Julienne

Chateauneuf-du-Pape Reserve 2003

Like many vineyards on the Rhône, the Domaine de la Vieille Julienne originally served only to grow grapes that were sold in bulk for Négociant bottlings. It was founded in 1905, but it took until the late 1960s for the first bottling, when the winery was also renovated. In 1990, Jean-Paul Daumen brought about a turnaround, as from then on, more attention was paid to low yields and natural cultivation methods. Within a few years, Daumen attracted the attention of critics.

Description

A dense, almost black colour with a violet hue. On the nose, the wine presents itself ripe with great freshness, aromas of red and black fruits, fine oak, sweet spices and a smoky note. Deep and dense, the wine presents itself wonderfully balanced on the palate, with fine and sweet tannins and a powerful finish. Unique expression with aromas of crisp black fruits and an elegant, aromatic bouquet.
