Gesellmann "G" 2021

A meticulous expression of traditional craftsmanship, this wine is made from fully ripe, healthy grapes harvested by hand. Fermentation takes place in wooden vats, with regular submerging of the cap and an extended maceration lasting 50 days. Spontaneous malolactic fermentation occurs in oak barrels, followed by maturation for 40 months in small oak casks. Through repeated rackings, the wine achieves natural clarification. After blending into the cuvée, it refines for a further 4 months in large wooden casks. This careful process reveals a wine of great ageing potential and a promising future.

Description

Tasting: Peter Moser
Deep dark ruby garnet with an opaque core, violet reflections and a delicate brightening at the rim. Fine nuances of Bourbon vanilla, a touch of bergamot, nougat, fresh red cherries and a hint of clove – a multifaceted bouquet. Powerful and juicy on the palate. Complex, with an extract-sweet texture, a fine line of acidity and perfectly ripe tannins. Mineral and saline, with astonishing length; hints of nougat linger for minutes. Impresses with harmony and elegance – a wine with great promise for the future.
