The Grand Vin of Calon Ségur reflects its terroir. It is rare, authentic and touches the soul. In the most natural way, it reveals both great finesse and exceptional intensity. All the magic of Calon lies in this balance. The wine is aged for 20 months in new oak barrels, allowing the tannins of the oak to blend harmoniously with the tannins of the grapes over time. It owes its style to a Cabernet Sauvignon that expresses its finesse without arrogance. Elegance is found everywhere: in the purity of the aromas, in the delicacy of its texture, while its depth and length are also outstanding. The wine's exceptional ability to age for many years in the bottle is another characteristic of the estate. The 1947, 1953 and 1982 vintages, for example, still show astonishing youthfulness.

The nose reveals a multi-layered bouquet of vibrant red berries, blackberries, cherries and delicate rose petals, underscored by subtle undergrowth notes. On the palate, this Saint-Estèphe presents a perfect balance of structured tannins and a lush fruitiness of currants, strawberries and plums. Tobacco and cedar wood nuances as well as fine spice notes lend it additional elegance and depth, while a hint of cherry accompanies the long-lasting finish.
