Moric
The Hausmarke rot is a cuvée of Blaufränkisch, Zweigelt and Pinot Noir, which is matured in large used wooden barrels. The Zweigelt brings fruit and charm, the Pinot juiciness and the Blaufränkisch character and structure. The Blaufränkisch also dominates the nose with dark aromas, ripe black cherry and plum, some eucalyptus and a slight smokiness of bacon. The palate starts fresh and animating, a fine and crumbly tannin spreads directly on the tongue, again cherry and fine tannin.

Moric Winery. Founded in 2001, the winery now covers 22.5 hectares of vineyards in central Burgenland and the Leitha Mountains. Roland Velich makes wines primarily from the Blaufränkisch grape variety, which unmistakably show one thing: their origin, Burgenland. Unique terroir, ancient vines, low yields, open mash fermentation with spontaneous yeasts and ageing in large wooden barrels result in wines that herald a new red wine era in Austria. The 2009 vintage of Blaufränkisch Neckenmarkt Alte Reben was the first Austrian red wine to achieve 95 Parker points and drew international attention to this previously unknown grape variety.
