On the Tuscan coast, near the small town of Bolgheri, there is a magical vineyard on a hillside overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea. The wine produced here was never meant to exist. The potential of the unused slope was only realised in the 1980s when, against all odds, advice and local traditions, the first vines were planted. In the following three decades, the vineyard has revealed many secrets, but almost more remain unexplored.

The relatively cool climate in 2010 produced a remarkably elegant wine
wine with outstanding, complex aromas. The colour is dense and almost opaque, while the nose reveals intense, powerful fruit, accompanied by delicate spicy notes and a hint of fresh minerality. On the palate, it presents itself somewhat less opulent than in the warm vintages, but it shows an impressively dense sequence of firm tannins that seem to linger almost forever in the mouth. The equally long finish opens up elegant toasted and chocolate notes. A refined, elegant Masseto, but with its typical greatness.
