CHÂTEAU DUCRU-BEAUCAILLOU

Madame de Beaucaillou 2019

The history of Château Ducru-Beaucaillou dates back to the beginning of the 18th century, in 1720 to be precise, and owes its name to the beautiful (and large) stones that characterise its unique wine terroir. In original Bordeaux fashion, this Victorian-style château is built directly above the barrel cellars. The property was classified as 2nd Grand Cru in 1855 and has been owned by the Borie family since 1942, continuing the same pursuit of excellence. "A tribute to the woman who was chairman of the board of directors from 1998 until 2020, but also for being an attentive and loving mother. Also to the muse. An opportunity to bring to light this great lady who has remained in the shadows out of discretion and humility. Slowly and quietly, her image joins the long line of Ducru-Beaucaillou owners who are inspiring and demanding in equal measure: Marie Desjean, Marie du Luc Ravez, Lucie-Caroline Johnston, Princess Marie Karadja of Constantinople, Mary de Burke... All played an essential role in the development and fame of Ducru-Beaucaillou. Power and grace..." Château Ducru-Beaucaillou

Description

"The robe is brilliant, deep, purple, the nose is very charming, refined. Fresh and fruity notes emerge, underpinned by a touch of French oak, Morello cherry jam, violets. Spicy touches on aeration.
On the palate, the attack is open, the tannins are silky. It is a wine of pleasure, greedy, subtle and seductive. Beautiful harmony and elegant femininity." Château Ducru-Beaucaillou
