Hole in the water Pinot Noir 2016

Founded a good 10 years ago by Konrad Hengstler's family, Konrad Wines produces premium wines under the aegis of winemaker Duncan Shouler. The vineyards are located in the well-known growing region of Marlborough.
Of all New Zealand's wine regions, Marlborough has earned the best reputation for the outstanding quality of its Sauvignon Blancs. The area has the longest sunshine duration of any growing region in New Zealand. A glacier left a gigantic furrow in the ice age. This created a clay-limestone soil that is ideal for viticulture. Many rock fragments remained in the bottom of the valley. They reflect the heat of the sun directly onto the ripening grapes. Even an hour after sunset, the rocks are still warm, giving the grapes a little extra ripening time each day before the cold air from the Pacific enters the valley via Cloudy Bay. This is exactly what makes the quality of the wines: crisp freshness and intense aromas.
