Chateau Chasse-Spleen

L'Héritage de Chasse-Spleen 2016

The wine, created from the vines of the younger vines of the Château, is a cuvée of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. It has a deep purple colour. The nose impresses with aromas of black and red berries, cherries and vanilla. On the palate, it shows flavours of liquorice and violets. A beautiful, intense wine that has personality and good structure and length.

Description

Wine was already grown on Chasse-Spleen in the 12th century. In the meantime, the estate covers 80 hectares and under the leadership of Madame Claire Villars, about 40,000 cases are produced per vintage. The estate is owned by Groupe Taillan, which also owns Chateau Citran, Ferriere, Haut Bages Liberal and La Gurgue. The vineyard is very old, with an average age of 35 years. It consists of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot. No filtering is used during vinification, and on average 50% of all barrels are renewed every year. The long-lived red wine matures for up to 24 months in 50% new barriques. The second wines are called "L'Ermitage de Chasse-Spleen" and "L'Oratoire de Chasse-Spleen".
