Poiré is a traditional and authentic product of the Domfrontais. It is made from the juice of different varieties of pears, including the Plant de Blanc, the Muscadet, the Avenelle and also the Poire de Grise. Immediately after harvesting, the pears are ground and pressed. For a period of 7 to 8 weeks, their juice ferments naturally at a controlled temperature. Half fermented and with an alcohol content of just over 4%, the Poiré is bottled. In the bottle, the fermentation continues, developing the carbonic acid that makes the Poiré so sparkling.
Food recommendation: It tastes wonderful with pâtés or served in a melon, and it perfectly accompanies any apple dessert.
