The estate of San Pietro a Pettine in the heart of Italy's Umbria region is world famous for its truffles and has been run for three generations by the Caporicci family, a dynasty with a deep-rooted symbiotic relationship with the truffle. The legendary estate covers seven hundred hectares of ancient woodland and protected truffle grounds, centred around an impressive Romanesque parish church with fourteenth-century frescoes and early Christian artefacts, surrounded by stunning views of the valley between Assisi and Spoleto. Some of the best truffles in Italy are grown in this area, from the precious white truffles hidden along the river Maroggia to the fragrant black truffles from the high altitudes of Manciano, Ponze and Pigge.
Storage: store in a dry place away from heat; once opened, keep in the refrigerator and consume within 5 days.
