Weingut Thomas Gritsch
The Zornberg is composed of metamorphic rocks, including paragneiss, amphibolite, and Spitzer granodiorite gneiss. The latter, like the Gföhler gneiss, is an orthogneiss, formed through the metamorphism of a granite-like rock. The Zornberg profile is taken from the foot of the slope. Due to gravity and erosion, metre-thick layers of sandy, stony material have accumulated, in which paragneiss, amphibolite, and Spitzer granodiorite gneiss are interwoven.
