Pronounced and powerful on the palate with clear fruit expression and a juicy finish, acidity and body are in good balance, very elegant; a charming and easy-drinking Klaus with backbone and a long finish. "Smaragd" stands for dry, dense and complex wines of the Wachau; in addition to structure and depth, Smaragd wines also convince with great storage potential. Ideally chilled, fresh from the fridge, the Riesling Smaragd Ried Klaus is a versatile companion.
It goes well with a variety of fish dishes, such as a fried Branzino with asparagus risotto or a hearty Pizza Frutti di Mare, as well as with typical Austrian dishes. Mare pizza, as well as typical Austrian dishes such as meatballs with mashed potatoes or a or a Tafelspitz with apple and chive sauce. But also with an Indian spicy fish curry, the wine harmonises wonderfully.
