Pickled Mussels in Escabeche

Rubén 1964's marinated mussels are crafted from fresh mussels from the Galician Rias. With patience and care, the artisans hand-clean the mussels and choose the finest pieces, which are then gently fried in olive oil and placed into jars.

When they add their traditional recipe of natural marinade with vinegar and smoked paprika from La Vera, we get a delightful product with a nuanced and balanced flavor: the full oceanic taste of fresh mussels combined with a subtle smokiness and a gentle spicy note at the end.

Preserves of fish in olive oil, such as White Tuna, Mackerel, or Sardines, crafted in the traditional manner, improve with time. They are already good in the first year and even better in the following, as they become milder and more delicate due to maturing in the olive oil. That's why we specify the vintage year in our limited edition preserves.

Storage:  6 years at room temperature. Drain the oil before consumption. After opening, store in the refrigerator and consume within 24 hours.
