Champagne André Robert

NEW & EXCLUSIVE in Austria at Meinl am Graben
We are pleased to introduce you to the Champagne Winery André Robert and their exclusive selection of the finest champagne.

Champagne André Robert is a family-run business as it is written in the book. For five generations now, grapes have been grown, cultivated and processed into excellent champagnes on the family vineyard. In 1960, André Robert bought the estate in Le Mesnil sur Oger and sold his own champagne just two years later. Today, the company is still run by members of the Robert family.

Around 60,000 bottles are produced annually. You can now purchase an exclusive selection of this champagne at Meinl Am Graben directly in the shop on the Graben or in the online shop.

The quality of a good champagne depends on the quality of the grapes used and this in turn depends on the terroir, the area where they are grown. The André Robert vineyard is located in the Champagne growing region "Côte des Blancs" in Le Mesnil sur Oger. This region is characterised by the poor soils, the predominant limestone and the vineyards situated on the slopes.

The grapes / The terroir

The focus of the 14-hectare vineyard is the Chardonnay grape. It makes up the majority of all blends and gives the champagne a fine, elegant and spicy flavour profile with its floral, lemony and mineral overtones. The two other grape varieties cultivated on the estate are Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier.

New creations are made every year from the right blend of the three grape varieties. Here, the Chardonnay grape always acts as the basis and is refined by the addition of the other grape varieties. The grapes for the champagne are grown on 65 plots, spread over 6 different terroirs, with each grape variety and each vineyard contributing its own character, taste and uniqueness to the blend. Two of André Robert's vineyards are classified as 'Grand Cru' and three others as 'Premier Cru'.

The perfectly timed harvesting of the grapes is also a true science and requires practice. Only selected grapes qualify for the champagne, all of which come exclusively from the estate's own fields. The grapes are pressed slowly and little sulphur is added. Then the 10 - 11 month vinification or maturation takes place mainly in barrels, demi-muids and casks. The natural maturation of the wines is hardly interfered with, so that they can develop their full and unique taste potential.

Focus on environmental protection

The generational enterprise attaches particular importance to the preservation, protection and conservation of the soil and biodiversity. For this purpose, only green manure and natural vegetation are used, few interventions in nature are made and the criteria of organic farming are fulfilled. Champagne André Robert has been awarded the HVE certificate (High Environmental Value) for this approach to nature and its working methods.

The Champagne Selection

Rose de Vignes Extra Brut

The rosé champagne from Champagné André Robert presents itself in the glass with a delicate coral red and a fine perlage. On the nose, there are aromas of wild strawberries, peach, mirabelles, fresh bread and mandarin with a hint of honey and a fine minerality. On the palate, the Rosé de Vignes is fresh and elegant. The base wines for this rosé champagne are aged in wooden barrels without malolactic fermentation. After the traditional bottle fermentation, the champagne matures for 4 years on the fine lees before it is disgorged.
Grape varieties: Pinot Meunier, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir

Terre du Mesnil Grand Cru

Terre du Mesnil is a vintage champagne fermented and aged in old oak barrels selected from the best parcels in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. Already on the nose, it is very fleshy with an enticing blend of honey, toast, some nut, caramelised pineapple and a hint of vanilla. An elegant wine with power and enormous length.
Grape variety: 100% Chardonnay

Les Jardins Du Mesnil Grand

The Grand Cru Champagne Les Jardins du Mesnil Blanc de Blanc from Champagné André Robert consists of 100% Chardonnay from the Grand Cru vineyards of Mesnil sur Oger, which are famous for their expressive and elegant Chardonnays.
In the glass, the champagne presents itself in a brilliant, light golden yellow and a very fine perlage. The champagne smells of white flowers and fresh citrus aromas with slight hints of caramel.
The base wines for this Grand Cru Champagne made from 100% Chardonnay are matured without malolactic fermentation, 70% in stainless steel and 30% in wooden barrels to maintain freshness. After the traditional bottle fermentation, the champagne matures on the fine lees for up to 5 years before it is disgorged.
