Brown limestone soil enriched with clay and silt, washed from above and mixed with a good proportion of pebbles. The soil is well exposed, sufficiently porous, well drained (favoring drainage) and provides the warm, dry conditions best suited to viticulture.
Richer and firmer than a Premier Cru, Bâtard-Montrachet shows its power and structure at a young age, but is still made for aging, where it can then develop its full potential. Meaty and full-bodied, with a firm structure on the palate. Aromas of honey, toast and almonds.
