There are various legends surrounding the origin of the raspberry. The raspberry bush, or, as its scientific name is, Rubus idaeus, was supposedly created on Mount Ida, and the gods of Olympus were particularly fond of its fruit. Another story says that Zeus' nurse, Ida, pricked herself while picking the fruit, which is why it has such a deep red colour. Whichever story you prefer, this berry has been enjoyed for thousands of years and is truly the king of red fruits thanks to its fragrant sweet and sour taste.
