The history of this cult winery dates back to 1885. The more recent history, however, began in 1969 with the arrival of winemaking luminary Paul Draper. The oenologist learned the craft from scratch and was one of the first in California to recognise the importance of matching vineyard and grape variety. The Monte Bello Cabernet Sauvignon was the first single vineyard wine in the USA in 1973 and is now a legend. The sunny balcony location of the Monte Bello Vineyard in the Santa Cruz Mountains is unique and well-tempered thanks to the altitude. The Monte Bello reveals its true greatness from around 10 years onwards, entirely in the classicism and elegance of a Médoc Premier Cru, with complexity and intense aromatics.

Powerful, intense cassis/blackberry concentrate with red berry (griotte) accompaniment. Barrique relatively sweet with coconut, vanilla, smoke. But in this intense concentration, it can handle it almost effortlessly. Deep and powerful on the palate. Elegant structure, super precise aromas and a fantastic long finish. Highly attractive in this young phase and packed with brilliant potential.
73% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, 8% Petit Verdot, 4% Cabernet Franc.
