Fruit is written in capital letters here: The aroma spectrum on the nose ranges from aromatic, small wild strawberries to woodruff. On the palate, the wine is slender and compact, with a fine-grained acidity and a beautiful interplay of fruit that literally dances on the tongue. A classic, animating and drinkable Schilcher as it should be.

Winemaker Christian Reiterer: The Schilcher visionary
Christian Reiterer was born and raised on the Lamberg near Wies; his strong ties to his homeland and his fascination with the Blue Torrent grape spurred him on in his youth to pursue his vision of a large, modern winery in Western Styria and finally to make it a reality. Three hectares of agriculture with only one hectare of vineyards on the Lamberg were at the beginning. Today the winery is one of the largest and most modern in Styria.
Making Schilcher presentable
"From the very beginning, I was fascinated by the Blaue Wildbachertraube and its possibilities," Christian Reiterer recalls. At that time, this grape variety was largely used to produce classic, rustic Schilcher, which was mainly drunk in the regional Buschenschanken. Reiterer's goal was to develop these wines further and to make them known internationally as a regional speciality. "On the one hand, I saw this possibility in the Lagen-Schilcher, which perfectly expresses the respective terroir," says Reiterer, "on the other hand, I discovered that the grape with its piquancy, its fresh acidity and its great fruit is the perfect basis for sparkling wines." So he started back in the eighties with the products that became the winery's trademark: Schilcher-Rosé Frizzante and Schilcher-Rosé Sekt.
