The beautifully situated Quinta do Vale Meão can look back on a long tradition. In 1877, Antonia Adelaide Ferreira had the visionary idea of creating a model vineyard from 300 ha of uncultivated land. This ambitious project took eight years to complete. Since then, the winery has always remained in family hands. In the 1970s, Francisco Javier de Olazabal took over the management of the estate. In 1994, the Quinta passed into the sole ownership of him and his children. Until 1998, the wines were sold under the name A.A. Ferreira S.A..

Description

Grape varieties: 55% Touriga Nacional, 40% Touriga Franca, 3% Tinta Barroca, 2% Tinta Roriz.
Rich purple with violet reflections, intense bouquet of blackcurrants and black cherries on the nose, spicy facets, some violets, dark chocolate, typical Douro minerality, fine toasting, incredibly dense and powerful on the palate, great melting, great balance of fruit and spice, well integrated tannins, fruity finish. Enjoy this wine with beef steak, lamb, meat kebabs, grilled pata negra pork and braised dishes. It also goes well with game birds such as guinea fowl and black olives. Producer: F.
