The beautifully situated Quinta do Vale Meão can look back on a long tradition. In 1877, Antonia Adelaide Ferreira had the visionary idea of creating a model vineyard from 300 ha of uncultivated land. This ambitious project took eight years to complete. Since then, the winery has always remained in family hands. In the 1970s, Francisco Javier de Olazabal took over the management of the estate. In 1994, the Quinta passed into the sole ownership of him and his children. Until 1998, the wines were sold under the name A.A. Ferreira S.A..

Description

Grape varieties: 45% Touriga Nacional, 30% Touriga Franca, 15% Tinta Roriz, 5% Tinta Barroca, 5% Alicante Bouschet.
Vivid purple, delicious aroma of prunes, black cherries, pepper, olives and dark chocolate - with the typical Douro spice and minerality behind. From the 2017 vintage, a truly monumental Meandro with plenty of power and extract-rich, sweet fruit from a great vintage here. Already showing a seductive warmth, perfectly integrated tannins with a velvety texture and lots of blackberry and cassis fruit. Finishes complex, full-bodied and long. Great with grilled tuna, surf and turf, suckling pig and pollo. Goes equally well with grilled vegetables, stew and raw ham. Producer: F.
