US*1 Original Sour Smash Whisky

US*1 Original Sour Smash Whisky

During the 1970s and 1980s, Michter's Original Sour Mash Whisky was highly popular, earning recognition for its distinctive taste. The name "Sour Mash" derives from the Whisky production process, similar to making sourdough bread, where previously fermented mash is used as a starter for the new batch. With its unique grain selection, it defies categorization as either a Rye or a Bourbon. After disappearing in 1989, Michter's Original Sour Mash Whisky triumphantly returned in 2012 as part of the US*1 line. Remaining faithful to its predecessor's profile and palate, Michter's US*1 Sour Mash quickly became a favorite among Whisky enthusiasts.

The US*1 expressions, named in honor of Michter's heritage as America's first Whisky company, offer some of the finest small batch and single barrel Whiskies available. Crafted to perfection by Master Distiller Dan McKee, no US*1 Whisky is released until it receives the approval of Dan and the Michter's tasting panel.
