Glenfiddich 12Y

The distillery was founded in 1886 by William Grant and is still family-owned today. As the family did not have much money, they built the distillery on their own. The equipment was bought second-hand (partly from the Cardhu distillery ). In 1887, the first whisky flowed at Glenfiddich. The distillery flourished, but was hit hard by the bankruptcy of a major customer in 1898. However, Glenfiddich survived on its own merits as William Grant began to produce blended whiskies. The distillery always remained in family ownership and was one of the few distilleries to continue to exist during the two world wars.

Description

This Glenfiddich matured for 12 years in select old oak casks. This time was sufficient to give it an unmistakable aroma and a unique taste. So it is not surprising that today it is one of the most popular malt whiskies in the world. As soon as it is poured, its typical slightly smoky aroma with soft oak tones caresses the nose. Later, a pronounced pear aroma joins in, which gives it a certain freshness. The taste is very balanced and harmonious. The fruity notes combine with delicate spruce and reveal peat. These impressions remain until the long and round finish.
