Chateau Cheval Blanc
Out of Stock
The estate's wines benefit from optimal growing conditions. The vineyards are spread over a seven-metre-thick layer of gravel, whose origins can be traced to the Ice Age, when the River Isle, a tributary of the Dordogne, washed up the layers of sand from the Massif Central. As the sandy soils benefit the ripening process and the taste of the vines, Château Cheval Blanc and the neighbouring estates La Tour-Figeac, La Dominique and Figeac are close to each other. The Cabernet Franc grape variety seems to thrive best on the estate's soils, which is why it takes up around 60 percent of the cultivated land. The Merlot grape variety accounts for the rest.
