The Grand Reserve is only made in select years. All the ripening parameters of the grape material must be right in autumn. The fine perlage and the delicate fruit only develop after a long period of ageing in the bottle. After five years in the bottle, the Grand Reserve is taken out from a cellar, 12- metres underground, and fetched from the Gaisberg.
