BRUNO GIACOSA
Falletto di Serralunga d'Alba is one of the Grand Cru sites of Barolo. The wines harvested here are long-lived, intense and particularly fragrant. Great Barolo, especially when it comes from one of the best wineries in the region. Bruno Giacosa stands for a more traditional style of Barolo. For example, he vinifies in large barrels, not in the barriques of the modernists. You have to be patient until this 2013 wine opens up.

Bruno Giacosa was one of the most famous Italian cellar masters, who earned his fame in particular with his Roero Arneis, Barolos and Barbareschos. Not for nothing is he still considered "the genius of Nieve" and "Mr. Barolo". His daughter Bruna took over the Giacosa winery in 2006 and continued to run it in close coordination with him. Even after her father's death in 2018, she still adheres to the traditions he established. And that is what makes the wines so unique.
The grapes are hand-picked, gently pressed and classically fermented. The wine is then aged for one to two years in traditional wooden barrels. This leaves the fine aromas pure and without the dominant barrique note. Afterwards, the wines mature in the bottle for up to one year.
Nose: Somewhat vegetal, old woody and candied-nutty scent of ripe red and some black berries with cherry and plum nuances, some sweet tobacco, wilted flowers and earthy minerality.
Tongue: Firm, complex and juicy, ripe fruit with taut tannins and a certain acid bite, dense and persistent on the palate, pithy style, powerful and concentrated, enormous minerality, multi-layered spice with peppery tones, candied and dried flowers, caramel traces.
Grape variety: 100% Nebbiolo
Origin: Italy / Piedmont
Alcohol content: 13,5% vol.
Contact: Bruno Giacosa, Via XX Settembre 52, IT-12057 Neive (Cn)
