The steeply rising Singerriedel behind the winery is one of the best sites in the Wachau, to which Hirtzberger pays very special attention. On the one hand, it has been recultivated step by step for over 20 years by rebuilding stone terraces in the old style, and on the other hand, its extremely mineral-rich soil of paragneiss, mica, slate and ore-bearing rock provides a unique foundation for the great Riesling Smaragd.
