La Fresnaye Anjou Rouge 2016
Patrick Baudouin's single-varietal Cabernet Franc comes from vines that were partly planted in the 1950s. He planted another part when he took over the winery in the 1990s, so that the grapes for "La Fresnaye" come exclusively from old vines. These stand on a limestone layer on a slate base. To emphasise the finesse of his wine, Patrick vinifies this Cabernet Franc almost exclusively in used barriques and then leaves it on the fine lees for some time before bottling it.

Smells of currants, heart cherry and has just a hint of green pepper, which creates a desired delicately red charm. Lovers of Cabernet Franc will already suspect the French origin from the Loire Valley when swirling the glass. On the palate, we are impressed by the velvety tannin as well as the well-trained medium body. A wine that is virtually predestined to be enjoyed.
